 Exploration & Production

    MPET-4101 | Reservoir Engineering
Properties of reservoir rocks and fluids, fluid behavior in conventional and unconventional reservoirs, determination of reserves, material balance, flow in porous media, recovery techniques.
    MPET-4102 | Production Engineering
Flow analysis in conventional and unconventional reservoirs, multiphase flow in pipes, fluid separation, formation damage, completions, artificial lift. 
    MPET-4103 | Hydrocarbons Geology
Reservoir rocks, the petroleum system, depositional systems, geological modeling, correlation and stratigraphy, geophysical tools and techniques for oil exploration.
    MPET-4110 | Enhanced Oil Recovery
Principles of production of oil and gas fields by various enhanced oil recovery techniques, including polymer, surfactant, miscible (solvent) systems, emulsion, steam, and in situ combustion.
    MPET-4111 | Unconventional Hydrocarbons
This course provides a basic understanding of unconventional reservoirs, specifically mudrocks/shales. This course is aimed at those interested in learning and understanding the most recent developments in the exploration and production of heavy and super heavy oil reservoirs, as well as shale oil and shale oil reservoirs..
    

Offshore Engineering

    MPET-4210 | Introduction to Offshore Engineering

The main goal of the course is to make the students familiar with the main components of an offshore project, as well as with the main technical concepts involved in its development. This includes detailed knowledge of the main types of equipment used in an offshore project, the main types of offshore structures, the criteria for the selection of an offshore structure, the materials and fabrication techniques used in offshore structures, the main concepts and equipment involved in offshore drilling, the design, fabrication and analysis of drilling and production risers, as well as mathematical models to analyze the behavior of an offshore structure.

Project Management

    MPET-4301 | Financial Assessment of Oil and Gas Projects

Risk-return relationship, investment and value decisions, theory of capital market efficiency, theory of risk and diversification, CML, SML and CAPM models, MM propositions, risk, risk hedging and instruments.

    MPET-4310 | Risk Analysis and Decision-Making

Utility theory, subjective probabilities and Bayesian statistics, models for decision-making under uncertainty and risk conditions, futures market, financial options and real options applied to the oil industry.

    MPET-4311 | Systems Optimization

Mathematical techniques applied to the optimization of several performance indicators of oil and gas projects. This includes financial indicators, productivity indicators, efficiency indicators, etc.

 
 

Socio-Environmental Aspects of Oil and Gas Projects

    MPET-4401 | Environmental Aspects of Oil and Gas Projects
Fundamental principles and concepts for the integration of environmental considerations in the planning, execution and abandonement of oil and gas projects. This includes the procedures commonly used the assess, prevent and mitigate environmental risks in oil and gas projects, according to national and international regulations. Emphasis is made on the integration of environmental considerations so that they are value generators rather than financial burdens in oil and gas projects.
